About
Handmade illustrations and designs
inspired by nature, travels & daily encounters
Hello! My name is Kati, the designer and illustrator behind STUDIO KATIPEIFER.
I was born and raised in the beautiful city Berlin, where I discovered my love for arts, design and the outdoors. For as long as I can remember I have loved drawing, taking photos and exploring my surroundings. As a big city girl I was lucky enough to still have a lot of nature around me. I explored it with friends and my dog Pongo. I also enjoyed reading and watching movies about wondrous places, and the adventurer in me couldn’t wait to see the world with her own eyes.
My first big trip brought me to New Zealand, where I did Work & Travel for half a year. This changed my life in a lot of ways. Not only did it further ignite my wanderlust, but also my love for a certain Dutchman, who I met on this journey. Together with him I set foot on six of the seven continents. We discovered the diversity and beauty of our planet, and also the impact our way of living has on mother nature. It should come as no surprise that travelling is a big source of inspiration to me. But encounters in my daily life and at home also influence my creations.
Studio katipeifer
My home and studio is located in Utrecht in the Netherlands, where I graduated as a Bachelor of Design with the specification in product design. In 2016 I founded STUDIO KATIPEIFER to share my creativity with the focus on handmade illustrations and designs. Purchase my products here in my online shop. Next to that I also have experience with commissions. At the moment I am available for new client work in the illustration field as well as in graphic design like print designs and book covers.
If you are interested in working with me and need more information about commissions, selling points and licensing, please take a look here.
Products
My illustrated and handmade goods are mostly inspired by nature, daily life and my travels. They show the beauty of little things through the form of a cup, a postcard or a collection of illustrated pressed flowers in a calendar. I try to tell a story with every product that I create, so that they become something more than simply a product. The goal is to make products that last, products with personality and depth, products that people can relate to. I hope my work sparks your hunger for adventures, may they be near or far. Let them inspire you to explore on your own and look at the world in a different way.
For illustrations I mainly use traditional materials like watercolour and coloured pencils. In the post production I also work digitally with Adobe programs. The majority of my ceramic pieces is wheel thrown, but I also have experience with slip casting.
As a creator it is important to me to work eco-friendly and to use sustainable materials as much as possible. For example my postcards are printed on 100% recycled paper and are produced locally. Packages, boxes and bubble foil are reused for sending orders. If bought new I am investing in green packaging materials.
